(A painting by Hendrik Danckerts from 1675 showing Charles II being given the first pineapple grown in England by his royal gardener, John Rose).

The Pineapple. An exotic fruit with an equally exotic past. In the 17th century the Pineapple was such a rarity that even possession of one was a sign of prestige. As recently as the 18th century you would find Pineapples at a cost of £5000 each at banquets all over Royalist England. A centre piece for wealthy aristocrats, owning one was seen as the ultimate symbol of Wealth. With such a rich past, it is a shame that the roots of the Pineapple have been resigned to history.

PYNAPL epitomises the search for Wealth and Prestige through the medium of fashion. We believe that today everyone is entitled to achieve and there is nothing out there that is inaccessible. PYNAPL seeks to motivate individuals in any stage of their lives to hark back to the story of the Pineapple and make it their own.

Your comfort zone is a beautiful place, but nothing ever grows there.
